Flaxseeds (Linum usitatissimum) or Linseeds has a wide variety of uses and has a mild nutty flavour. Flaxseeds/Linseeds can be sprinkled on to salads or soups to give a boost to their nutritional value. Flaxseeds/Linseeds contain soluble and insoluble fibre. If you are putting Flaxseeds/Linseeds into a glass to drink with water or fruit juice remember to have plenty of liquid to move the seeds down to the stomach. They are not water soluble. Flaxseeds/Linseeds are also delicious in baking pastries or cakes and bread making. Use 1 to 4 Tablespoon per day. They are good added to plain or fruit yogurt or simple desserts.
